Any natural person or representative of a legal entity can file an application to register an industrial design with the Office, either directly or via an agent. The applicant will be the proprietor of the industrial design and presumed to be its creator, unless it is shown otherwise.
If you are selling all or part of your design, licensing it to a third party, changing address, changing the name or legal form of your company, you can make this information accessible to the public, so that it becomes common knowledge and therefore enforceable against third parties.
To do this, you simply need to inform the Office by making a formal application to update information on your design.
National protection of your design runs for a period of at least ten years. This period may be renewed up to four times, granting a monopoly on exclusive use of your design for a maximum of 50 years from the date on which the application for registration was filed.
