The cost of filing an application to register an industrial design varies depending on the number of designs to be protected.
Filing fee | 30 euros | This fee must be paid when you file your application, regardless of the number of industrial designs concerned |
Protection fee | 15 euros per industrial design | This fee must be paid when you file your application, regardless of the colour and number of views associated with each industrial designs |
Custody fee (when registering articles up to a maximum of 50 cm) | 100 euros per article | This fee must be paid when the application is filed |
EXAMPLES
When filing an application to register a colour design with three distinct views:
30 + 15 = 45 euros
When filing two designs, each presented with six separate views in black and white:
30 + (15 X 2) = 60 euros
IMPORTANT: you will only pay one filing fee, regardless of how many industrial designs you are registering, provided the designs all belong to the same class of the Locarno Classification (link). If this is not the case, you should group the designs together by class, to determine precisely the number of separate applications you need to file and consequently the exact amount of fees payable.
You can choose to pay:
- In cash;
- By cheque made out to “Trésorerie Générale des Finances” or “T.G.F.”.
